I was watching another natural history programme last night, and I find them so depressing. Why? I hear you ask me. Well, I feel depressed because on these programmes you see how wildlife struggles to exists, the beauty of various places on Earth, and when the narrator makes the point that unless we humans make drastic changes to the way we pollute our world and control the way we destroy the natural landscape, a lot of species of animals will die out because their natural habitat will be gone for ever. Global warming is coming, and although it is an unfortunate but inevitable fact of life since the planet is warming up anyway, the pollution that America, China, India and those countries of the old Soviet blok produce are increasing the Global Warming by an alarming rate, some say they are speeding it up by up to 10 times. In 50 years time, over a hundred different animals will have lost their natural habit, sea levels will have risen several feet, flooding many low lying areas, and average summertime temperature will have increased by around 10 degrees Celsius. I just wish that the Governments of these countries would get their heads out of their arseholes and do something now, instead of worrying about the economical impact of reducing green house gasses etc might have on their economy, otherwise it will to late....for all of us on this fragile little planet. |
